Bachelor of Science in Clothing Technology

The Bachelor of Science in Clothing Technology is a scientific and multi-disciplinary (physical, psychological, social, aesthetic, technical, technological) study of the consumption, production, and distribution of clothing and textiles based on changing clothing needs and concerns of individuals, families, communities, and institutions. It deals with four areas of study (research, production, merchandising, management), where design is integrated to develop innovative and sustainable clothing solutions for the Filipino society as well as the global community.

The BSCT program envisions to lead in developing innovative and sustainable clothing solutions for Filipinos through relevant, collaborative, and quality instruction, research, and public service. The program mission is to produce outstanding advocates of sustainable and innovative clothing solutions through advanced and inclusive instruction, ethical and trans-disciplinal research and public service, and active partnerships with society. The program is driven by three core guiding principles – Innovation, Sustainability, and Maka-Pilipino – to fulfill its mission and vision.

After completing the program, a graduate is expected to achieve the following program learning outcomes:

  1. Identify changing clothing needs and concerns of individuals, families, communities, and institutions [industry, government and non-government institutions, and organizations];
  2. Systematically, creatively, and professionally apply clothing technology concepts, principles, techniques in production, merchandising, research, and management in the Philippine Garments, Textile, and Fashion industry; and
  3. Create sustainable and innovative clothing solutions (products, processes, services) to address the needs of Filipino individuals, families, communities, and institutions.

Bachelor of Science in Interior Design

The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BSID) is a joint program between the CHE and the College of Architecture. It provides a broad general education and specialization in interior design. Specifically, it includes courses in design, history of art, furniture construction, soft furnishings, aesthetic, socio-economic, cultural and environmental aspects of daily living in shaping and treating space to meet the needs of individuals, families, and institutions. The program trains and prepares its students to qualify for the licensure examination for interior designers. BSID graduates qualify for positions such as junior project designer in interior design, architectural and furniture firms; as product designer, visual merchandiser, display artist, movie or TV production designer; events planner, stylist for interior design magazines, and entrepreneur for interior accessories.

After completing the program, a graduate is expected to achieve the following program learning outcomes:

  1. To identify the interior design needs of individuals, families, communities, and institutions in consideration of changing physical, social, and cultural realities in both local and global settings.
  2. To integrate relevant theories, standards, and strategies in generating interior design solutions that are ethical, sustainable, inclusive, and socio-culturally sensitive.
  3. To formulate innovative design concepts that strongly exhibit resourcefulness, environment consciousness, and socio-cultural relevance.
  4. To demonstrate an exceptional level of competence in articulating interior design ideas using diverse creative and technical communication formats.
  5. To employ effective interior design solutions that can adapt to the changing needs of individuals, families, communities, and institutions in an evolving material and socio-cultural landscape.
